So. Beth. What have you been up to? GAH! The summer has been busier than the school year ever is. And I didn’t expect it. Thus the absence. Here are a few highlights (some of which you’ll see highlighted further in future posts)…
I got a new camera. Four weeks ago. I have used it only once. Which is strange, because I LOVE new things. But apparently I also have a difficult time with change and changing over to my new camera is evidence.
I also got a new swim suit. It’s my favorite swimsuit ever. And it might just be the only one I’ve owned as an adult that actually fits me. Apparently cup size matters. Who knew?
Tara’s playing T-ball. She has about the best coach in the world. I can say that because we’ve played five of the other seven teams, and I can compare. Coach Crystal rocks. And so does making the t-ball shirt fancy. Which was Tara’s condition for wearing it at all.
Tim gets to play part of the game, because we’re short one player on our team. He wears the team shirt for 1.5 innings, and Kenna, another teammates little sister, wears the shirt for the second 1.5 innings. It’s awesome.
Tara is also taking swimming lessons. The first one was an epic failure, for which I take the blame. But they’re getting better.
I got some new nail polish. Apparently the same rule about not liking change does NOT apply to nail polish. Because I used it immediately, and haven’t used any other color in a month. I like it very much.
Tim has had two rather disgusting toe injuries this summer. One split his big toe nail vertically. It was gross.
He still won’t wear shoes when he goes outside.
We helped set up the wrestling mats for Harold’s wrestling camp. It was more fun than it sounds.
Harold is officially the new Raymond Central Head Football Coach. He’s been busy filling his staff and such. The best part is that he probably won’t have to work his summer job anymore. Which means we’ll take real family road-trip vacations. So. If you’re a friend and live far away, we’ll be asking to sleep at your house in the future.
We had our carpet stretched. It required the removing of all furniture from the rooms. It also happened during Harold’s first week of his summer job and my parents were out of town. Timing was disastrous. For me, anyway.
Tara has already attended two VBSes, and she has Preschool summer camp next week. She’s busy.
I helped paint and decorate my friend, Deborah’s, nursery. It’s a beautiful green. I have done a considerable amount of painting in my life, but this was the first time I ever actually stepped in a full paint tray. Ever. It was hilarious.
Have you noticed the dress styles that are currently popular all look like maternity dresses. It’s the empire waist thing. And I really, really, REALLY don’t like it. Because it is not flattering. At all. And the last thing in the whole world that I want to be is pregnant, so the thought of people wondering if I am is ghastly. Come on, fashions, CHANGE.
Brad will be here next Wednesday. We’re all very excited.
We bought a pool pass this year. Just on Wednesday actually. And it’s already fun. Except for the application of sunscreen part. But we’ll adjust. We’re a whole family of blue-eyed, fair-skinned, burn-easies. The kids love the pool. It’s fun. I did not grow up in a small town where “The Pool” was an attraction. Or, more accurately, The attraction. So, yes, this is fun.
Dad’s birthday was yesterday. A good time was had by all at CiCi’s Pizza. And Tara discovered the fun of having and spending your own money. It was priceless.
Well then. There are the highlights. Stay tuned. Here’s hoping I can get back to my every-third-day habit…
Yay…you’re back!!
I can’t wait for some pictures though…especially of the pool! That sounds great! We had a pool at our other house, & I LOVED it.
Congratulations Harold!
Happy Birthday Mr. Royuk!
And Cheers to all the kid fun stuff!
(btw: I’ll have an available bedroom very soon)
Did you find time to teach that online class?
Consider yourselves invited to Rockville. Perhaps it’s too close to your bro’s, but consider that you can metro to DC from my place… Maybe after a long day in DC.
You should smash your old camera so there are jagged pieces of broken glass sticking out of it. That helped me convert from my old camera to my new one.
… and then I’ll steal it.
Your life is CRAZY busy!! How are you surviving?
