Last night as she was falling asleep, Tara said to me, “Is the Easter Bunny just a costume?”

I said, yes the Easter Bunny is a costume.

She said, “Why?”

I didn’t know quite what to say so I thought a moment.  Just as I was about to say something - I can’t even remember what I was going to say to her - she said,

“Because the real Easter Bunny needs a break?”

 

 

Yes.  Yes, Tara.  The real Easter Bunny needs a break.  And your Mommy isn’t quite ready to have you let go of those childhood innocences.  She’ll wait until you’re ready to let them go.
