Big Beds and Pool Noodles.

Tim has graduated.  He’s in his big bed.  And he’s SO VERY EXCITED!!!

On Thursday night as we were getting ready for bed, he cried and cried about not wanting to get into his crib.  And he even requested sleeping on the floor.  So I suggested we get his big bed out.  And he was delighted.  Until he learned he would have to wait until tomorrow. :(

So, Friday afternoon, the crib came down and the bed went up.  And he giggled with delight.  And then he jumped and jumped and jumped on his new bed with glee.  Because we let our kids jump on beds.  We’re bad parents like that.

Out with the old. And so you know, that frog blanket was making Tim's tent. He loved that. Passionately.

Tim's beautiful big bed. He has a supercool leaf canopy from Uncle Brad, but I haven't had time to put it up yet. He'll love it.

Glee.

And because I passionately hate those bed rails for keeping kids from falling out of bed, I improvised.  I knew he really only needed the tiniest of a reminder to not roll off, and had this positively genius idea to use a pool noodle.

I tucked it under the fitted sheet, so it stays snug, and offers just a bit of a barrier.  Because if he rolls over this, he deserves to fall out of bed, and he’ll just learn faster how not to fall out.  Because I’m a bad Mommy like that.

Because a picture shows it better.

You can barely see it, but it's there. A noodle barrier.

That IS genius!!!! Wow! You’re going to send that idea into some parent magazines, yes? So cool.

I’m with you on the learning by falling. My sister used to keep her collection of model horses in their ‘corral’ on my side of our double bed. I fell out – onto their pointy, pointy ears – once. After that, I took my half of the bed out of the middle.

HA! “…he deserves to fall out of bed.” HA!

The room looks GREAT…Tim is ADORABLE…and you are a GENIUS!

I think you should sell these ‘Big Bed Bumpers’ on-line! You could buy the noodles for a buck at the dollar store & sell them for…well, alot more. Hello millionaire!!

When you didn’t put that leaf canopy up right away, it threw me off. I couldn’t remember if I had gotten it for you or not. I thought maybe I just dreamed it. I think I even asked Mom if it really happened.

    Nice idea!
By the way, I cannot remember what we were talking about at Sunday school the other day. Tara made a comment to the whole class, “my mommy’s favorite color is green.”

  7. That’s an awesome idea, I’ll keep it in the vault

It’s so, so exciting. So… has he fallen out of bed?
