Cucumbers. Like Grandma Hummel made.

I don’t really know what the name of this recipe is.  We just called it “cucumbers”.  And sometimes added, “Like Grandma Hummel made.”  But still we do love them and we eat them quite a lot when we’re not just peeling the cucumber and eating it in the same fashion which we eat apples…

It goes very well with the next recipe I’ll be posting…but that may be a little while…

Cucumbers.  Like Grandma Hummel made.

1-2 cucumbers, peeled, cut in half lengthwise, and sliced into little half circles.

2-3 Tbsp Sour Cream, give or take

1 Tbsp vinegar, give or take.  White or cider.  Whatever you have.

A dash of salt

A bunch of shakes or grinds of black pepper

Ingredients.

Combine sour cream, vinegar, salt and pepper in a bowl until smooth.

The sour cream mixture.

Cut cucumbers into bowl, stirring once in a while to see ifyou have enough cucumbers for the cream, or need a few more.

Cut the cucumber lengthwise, then in slices.

Two small cucumbers is usually the right amount. Or one big one.

Cucumbers.  Like Grandma Hummel made.

Perfect.

They really are delicious.

I’m going to try this tomorrow…my familiy LOVES cucumbers & this certainly looks easy & fast enough.

I CAN’T WAIT to respond when they ask what’s this?, I’ll simply say…Cucumbers, like Grandma Hummel Made. (the question is will they ask me who Grandma Hummel is, or just ignore me like usual.)

  2. Brad says:

That little bowl doesn’t seem like enough. What I always want to do with these is dump the whole bowl on my plate and leave none for the next person. But I feel the weight of politeness on the back of my neck, and I only take five half circles.

  3. Beth says:

To be fair. That bowl is for ME. Tara and Tim like to eat cucumbers like apples. And Harold just doesn’t get any. So, yes. Only take your five half circles. The rest is for me.

  4. Lauren says:

That puts the ‘mmmm’ in cucummmber.

  5. Kristi says:

Those are HUGE salt and pepper shakers.

  6. Beth says:

Heh. Indeed. And I love them. I just wish they were clear instead of blue…but I’m having trouble finding a clear set…*sigh*

  7. Peggy says:

I made these tonight…and they liked them!! Yea!! Something new to make!!
