Homecoming parade.
We live on the street that runs straight from the town high school to the town square where the courthouse resides. It’s also a pretty straight shot from the north side of town to downtown, which means we see a fair amount of traffic for a small town street. Mostly right before 8am, right after 3pm (when school gets out) and right after 5pm. Still, it’s a small town so a “fair amount” of traffic…is what? 20 cars in a half hour? Heh.
One of the best things about our street happens each year on the Friday of the high school homecoming. Always about 2pm. And almost as if they come Just. For. Us.
The parade.
The high school always makes a trek to the bandshell downtown to have a big pep rally for Homecoming. I’m guessing it’s some sort of tradition to have it there, I’m not a native, so I don’t know. But it has come past our house for 5 years I’m aware of, and we haven’t missed it.
To be honest, the “parade” consists of the marching band, four “floats”, one for each class, and the athletic director and principal riding a golf cart at the end. It’s mostly funny.
Unless you’re a kid.
Then. It’s a parade. Just. For. You. (And the friends and neighbors you invite to come sit on the grass with you and watch.)

A parade. Just. For. Us.
That seems like kind of a long march. Does the band play while marching? Have you ever been tempted to lie in the street like the college kids in Columbia, Missouri did?
That is FANTASTIC! You really did buy the best house in the world.
Geez, that looks really cool!! And yet sad…where are all the other on lookers? Does no one come out to watch? I don’t see anyone else across the street?!? I guess it really is just for you! Awesome! Maybe is they could get that councilman Lauren likes to march along…
It’s already homecoming week? When do you start school — June??
So cute!! Small town America… GOTTA LOVE IT!
