First harvest 2009.

To make you all jealous.  :D

I gathered our first asparagus harvest on Wednesday.  And it was simply yummy.

But here’s the funniest thing.  Look here.  Same date even, just a year ago.  Apparently my asparagus is very consistent.  Just as it should be.

It's not the same picture as last year...but it could be, huh? I must also be consistent. Just like my asparagus.

And to make this a little recipe post.  Just snap into pieces (or leave in spears if you prefer) Steam in the microwave for about 90 seconds (2 minutes if you prefer yours a bit softer).  Melt on a pat of butter and salt to taste.  Done.  YUM.  You can’t beat home grown veggies!.

I’m currenlty in Baltimore having a great time!  YAY for little trips!!

My asparagus is being stupid again this year, but I’m punishing it by pulling out all the worthless tiny stems and eating them raw. If the plants never send up any big stems and end up dying, that’s their own dang fault.

How many months do you continue to get asparagus? I think it’s cool that the harvest starts so early! I’ve just start making asparagus, & so far I like it, but I thought, “It needs something else.”…I microwave it with ck. broth, dash it with lemon juice & of course salt & pepper. D’UH…BUTTER!!

Hey Beth, thanks for sharing the link to your blog…after taking a peek around the place I realize there’s a lot more to Beth Pester than I thought. My favorite post thus far is the puke in the clean toilet…oh man. Keep em coming!
