State Wrestling.

FINAL UPDATE!!:   Ryan and Aaron were both second place medalists today.  What an amazing accomplishment, isn’t it?  To be two of only a handful of wrestlers who even medal (there are more than 900 who begin the tournament), and even more to be two of the top wrestlers in the entire state?  Awesome!   Congratulations guys!!  Congratulations, Coach!!

UPDATE UPDATE!!!:  Holy catfish!!!  Ryan and Aaron both won in the semifinal round -  woooohooooo!!!!  They will be wrestling tomorrow afternoon (1:30C) in the championship match…the worst either of them could do now is get second at state.  But, here’s cheering for victories and TWO STATE CHAMPS!!!

If you have reception for NETV - Channel 12 out of Lincoln, the championship matches will be broadcast at 1:30pm (Central).  Watch for Class C at 130 lbs, and 152 lbs.  Ryan and Aaron will both be in the championship singlets.  They are navy blue with gold pin stripes, like Ryan has on in the picture below.

UPDATE:  Ryan and Aaron both won their first two matches which means they both have advanced to the semi-finals.  Two more wins and they each will be champs.  The worst they could do at this point is 6th place, which means regardless of how the rest of the tournament goes, they will get a state medal.  Pretty cool.  And, really exciting. :D

Harold has a couple guys going to the state tournament again this year.  The Omaha World Hearld ran a cool article about one of them, Ryan, here:

http://www.omaha.com/index.php?u_page=3938&u_sid=10566144

Ryan was a state champ last year.  The other state champ Harold coached last year, Ethan graduated, but his little brother Aaron is the second guy who qualified for the tournament.

This is Ryan's 100th High School career win. That doesn't happen very often. Especially for juniors.

That's Harold with Ryan after his 100th. I love this picture.

Harold (and Tim) coaching Jeremiah. He didn't make it to state.

 Coach Pester in action.

I’ll let you know how it goes.  I get so nervous for this tournament…

All the girls who are managers or cheerleaders for wrestling have bum cushions. It’s the “in thing”. :D

And I see that Tim has already perfected his ‘Very Serious- No Silly Smiling in This Manly Sport, I’m Using my Brain as much as my Body- Wrestling Face’.

Congratulations Coach Pester & wrestlers!! Way to go!! Good luck in the tournament & be sure to let us know the results!

(PS GREAT pictures Beth!)

Awesome! I was so happy when our guys would just win a simple match. Championship wins must be pee-in-your-pants exciting!

Yes!!! WOOOHOOO!!!

Unfortunately, and apparently, there are lots of things that are now pee-in-my-pants exciting. Stupid having babies.

That comment was supposed to go under Beth’s pee-in-the-pants excitement post. If you have to explain it, it’s not funny anymore. Bummer.

EXCELLENT!! Congratulations to everyone!! That is so wonderful!!

So do Aaron & Ryan go on to a National Championship?

Comment by Beth on February 22, 2009 at 1:29 pm

Ryan will go to the Jr. National Championships in Virginia Beach at the end of March. I don’t think Aaron does anything on the national scene.
