Have I told you about my sloppy joes? I don’t have an amazing recipe passed down from my great-grandma or anything. I just buy a little envelope of spices marked “Sloppy Joes”. I recommend McCormick, and give a big thumbs down to the Wal-Mart brand (sorry Dusty), it’s awful. But here’s the twist to my recipe:
Use Tomato Soup.
I was making sloppy joes once, and I was all done browning the hamburger and went to add the tomato paste only to realize I didn’t have any…and I had to improvise. Turns out, tomato soup is THE BEST!
Sloppy Joes
1 lb ground beef
1 can tomato soup
1 package Sloppy Joe seasonings
1 package buns

Brown the groud beef. Add the tomato soup and spices. Do not add water – it’s not necessary. Stir. Put on buns. Serve. Done.

I don’t have a picture of the finished product, but you get the idea. How’s that for easy?
What do you know? I use tomato soup too…my mother always did, so I do too….so does that make my McCormick Sloppy Joe recipe a recipe that’s been passed down thru the generations?
I am so making this tonight!
Yum, they sound like the perfect comfort food! Too bad we don’t have that special seasoning in London. I would love to make me some of that. He he
So, Dusty was very proud to make the website, but he wants everyone to know, that you can also use the local Walmart for all your McCormick needs.
Apparently our family makes weird sloppy joes. We just pour some barbeque sauce on the meat. Weird, but I like it.
Mrs. Held had a recipe for non-red sloppy joes that I loved. All year I would look forward to the Christmas party at their house. She always offered them then.
Dynamita, try this recipe or just google homemade sloppy joes, and you can try them yourself! http://hubpages.com/hub/How_to_Make_Sloppy_Joes_from_Scratch
