The Seward County Fair has been going on for the last few days. We really needed to get there for the animal petting/holding, and for the funnel cakes.
It was really much more fun than I anticipated! Tara loved holding the baby chicks and petting the calf and minature donkeys (minature? really? they’re already small animals.). Tim liked looking at things and eating popcorn and holding his balloon. Both of them LOVED the big sandbox for the kids (while Harold stood on the edge and watched the Figure 8 race, and I ate a funnel cake).

Then to the midway and Tara got to drive her first semi. A pink one.

And, to top off the night she went fishing for prizes. Thankfully the carnie was nice and let her fish about a hundred times…for two big bumpy balls, purple for Tara, blue for Tim.

Popcorn and balloons: free
Pizza and Pop for 4: $9.50
Petting animals and playing in the sand: free
Funnel Cake: $5
Semi driving: $4
Two bumpy balls (and fishing more than the allotted times): $10
A fun night at the Seward County Fair: Priceless
Funnel cake rocks! (Except when the oil isn’t hot enough and the cake just becomes a sponge for oil). The county fair… I think Maryland’s is coming up. I’ll have to go! I bet the fish game carnies won’t be as nice to me, tough. I’m not as cute as Tara.
Yay for petting the animals!! I love that! But your post made me hungry so I must go make some donuts now …
Pictures please
I’d like to say ‘hooray for the fair’, but Lloyd and I are off in a bit to serve a five-hour shift manning tables. (Lutherans and Repblicans, but not Lutheran Republicans.)
I’m thrilled you had a great time, and the weather was perfect for it yesterday!
Maybe we’ll follow you to Maryland’s; we’ve never been, and the kids really enjoy the fair. This year, at least for Susana, I’m going to get the wristband & just let her ride. Those tickets make me CRAZY! But we also really enjoy walking around & seeing the other stuff. And the people, of course – little ones like Tara doing something new. Oh, last year we saw two calves just, just, just after they were born. OH! It was a little icky, but it was also amazing!
