Tara’s first haircut. 7.31.08.

For real.  I haven’t even considered cutting Tara’s hair for the past three years.  But the last 4 months it has been getting a bit more tangley, and that causes some angst after bathtime.  So I have suggested we get it trimmed a few times, but if you know Tara, you know that she’s already entirely Lutheran, and change does not come easy for her.  So I waited.

Until this morning.

Tim’s hair had become quite a mess, and it badly needed to be cut.  I just got out my handy clippers and held him on my lap and went to work…and as I was finishing, Tara said, “Trim mine!”  Well, I don’t pass up opportunities like that, and so let the trimming begin!  (I didn’t take any before, during and after pics because I was doing this alone, and if I hesitated, the moment might pass me by.)

I actually cut off four inches.  But I’m pretty sure I’m about the only one who will notice anything significant.  Tara LOVES it.  She keeps touching her hair and holding the ends in her mouth.  It’s thicker now.  And looks deeper red.  It’s still long and enviable.  See:

Still swishy when she plays.

And still long...but has more bounce.

She looks like a model. You should totally become one of those stage moms that pushes her into showbusiness and she secretly resents it until one day when she’s rich and famous and powerful enough to send you away to permanent “retirement” in Kazakhstan.

(I just have to say here that I spelled Kazakhstan correctly on the first try. Isn’t that incredible?)

  2. Lauren says:

She looks beautiful! Well done, Mama. I also appreciate how well she is taking her frog-riding training. Brad, she’s going to be a frog jockey, not a model.

  3. Deanne says:

I’m impressed. I probably couldn’t even spell it correctly with a dictionary!

  4. Peggy says:

Indeed she does look like a model! Send that 1st (back of the head always wins) shot to a fancy shampoo advertising company! Great job Beth!

Hey, maybe we should start a magazine with nothing but back of the head shots in it … in every article, all the ads, and of course the cover too… wouldn’t that be great!!
