A year ago…a year from now…

In the vast universe of blogdom (which I’m not really a part of, I’m just a poser), there is a popular little game of sorts in asking the question, “Where were you (in life) a year ago?  And, where will you be a year from now?”.  It’s a curious little game…

A year ago, I had a 20 day old baby, and a 2 year old little red-haired girl.  I was not sleeping much, but was finally off the living room floor and in our own bed, and Tim was in his own bed.  I was getting up to nurse him three times a night, but he was staying in his own bed from 8pm to about 8am, and he was taking naps more or less all day long.  (We had been on the living room floor sleeping because Tim was on the blue lights for jaundice, and it was easier to keep him plugged in if we stayed in the living room.)  I was dreading the next weeks and months because Tara’s infancy was T.E.R.R.I.B.L.E., and I was missing Tara because I spent all my time with Tim, and almost none with Tara.

Harold was just going back to work with Boulder Works – his summer landscaping job – and he had officially taken the year off from football coaching.

I was getting ready for teaching a new class at Concordia (First Year Seminar), and still teaching Ed Psych.

 Tiny Tim.

Never mind my 12 chins. I had a 3 week-old and wasn't sleeping with any regularity.

Sleepy Tim with Grandpa...and Crazy Tara in the background...

A year from now I will have a 4 year old and a 2 year old.  I will know what Tim’s voice really sounds like, and he’ll say actual sentences.  Tara will have completed her first year of pre-school, and hopefully we will have made an awesome trip to Baltimore to visit Uncle Brad (we have to fly while Tim still flies for free…so, before July 3).

Harold may or may not be coaching football again.  He will be going back to Central for his 10th year, and perhaps picking up some AD duties again, depending on the new principal.

I will have completed a year teaching several new classes and advising about 25 Middle Level students, and hopefully will be looking forward to the same schedule for the next year.

What will it be??

I don’t have pictures of what next year will look like…but you can imagine…a little red-haired girl, a buzz-cut blonde man-child, and two glamourous parents who will never age again. :D

What about you?

Good thing I have a website so I can check what was going on a year ago. It seems that I was getting ready for the coming school year – starting to re-do the housekeeping area and making a video for home visits.

In one year, I bet that I’m getting ready for the coming school year! My life never changes, for which I am grateful.

Way to go Beth with all your accomplishments!!!! You’re a power house!! Now for mine:

Last July I’m sure I was sweating … and relaxing, but with no on line archive to help me I may be missing something MONUMENTAL that I did. Next July I’m sure I’ll do more of the same … although I am sensing a disturbance in the force for me …. stayed tuned.

Is it wrong that I can’t think past an hour ago or in the future? I have the worst UTI ever in recorded history that flared up in a matter of hours today. I just want to feel better and my fever to go away.

  4. Lauren says:

Ouch!!! Those are the worst! I’ll pray for you. (Do you know about Azo pills? They’re like a little miracle, and they’re over-the-counter.)

I just heard about it today. I went to the doc’s office for a UA (positive) and they told me to get some along with the script. That would help my physical symptoms immediately while the meds were kicking in to take care of the bad stuff. And, happily, they’re safe for women in the “family way.”

    Feel better fast Karla!!

    Ditto!

A year ago I was just reconnecting with Brad, finding out about his blog, your blog, Lauren’s blog… Which led to reconnecting with lots of folks, like Karla, Christina, Kent…

In one year, I’ll be getting ready for (or on) some kind of long trip – either Korea or Colombia.

One year ago I, apparently, was mourning the destruction of some of my beloved garden plants by that most evil scourge of the botanical world: bunnies.

I predict that a year from now I will have just arrived back from Nebraska, since my departure there will be delayed by a visit from family. I will probably spend all day on July 23, 2009 sitting on my butt playing a computer game.
