Today marks our fifth anniversary in this house. I love this house. We got it in a strange rather Divine way, and I hope we live here for a very, very long time.
To make a long story short (as short as I can…I admit I’m usually quite wordy, but talking and writing are different experiences), our previous house was right next to the hospital here in town. The hospital was expanding and needed part of our (already teeny, tiny) back yard. Unfortunately (for the hospital, but fortunate for us), whoever was supposed to get in touch with us about our back yard land forgot. We received a note in the mail a mere 29 days before they wanted to start construction (June 1). Oops.
After a great deal of haggling, property shopping, house hunting, and meeting with the hospital guys…they bought our back yard, house and all. We came out ahead, and were able to get this AWESOME house. And, an even more awesome thing, my friend Lauren came to this house every day with me, for TWO WEEKS and helped me paint every room in the house. E.V.E.R.Y. room. Even the insides of closets. She’s a hero of mine. Tammy and Annette helped with the painting, too. And Curt hung every blind in the entire house (I think that’s 21 blinds, whew!).
The previous-previous owners are friends of ours, but the previous owners (who only were here for 9 months) smoked in the house, and painted some Romper Room colors, so everything needed some work.
Fresh paint, new carpet, new counter-tops in the kitchen and bath…and we were in. I love this house.

(And happy birthday Aunt Bev!)
Good memory… thanks for sharing!
Happy Anniversay!! Awesome house!! Love the front porch! I don’t have a sitting front porch, & didn’t in my other house either. Dnag it.
And yea for sharing pizza & pepsi on the floor with great friends!
I love your house! It’s the perfect size and every room is perfect. So awesome.
Thanks again for yesterday…we had so much fun! I feel slightly more sane today. Every little bit helps!
It is a most awesome house. And decorated in such lovely cat-inspired colors!
“Housiversary”? hehe
You need to wear that shirt again that Mom made you for your 33.3 that says “I’ll do anything for a party.” Are you having a party? Is Tara making imaginary jellybeans? …because I had WAY too many imaginary jellybeans when she served me the other day.
