Not artists.

Tara is really into painting lately.  She often gets her paints out and asks us to draw things for her to paint.  Free form isn’t her gig.

And so, we do.  But we’re not artists.  In fact every animal I draw looks about the same with small variations for identification.  Birds have beaks, cats have pointy ears and whiskers, dogs have floppy ears and whiskers, pigs have snouts….and so on…

But we’re not artists, and it’s really quite funny.

When Daddy draws. His animals are all from Ethiopia.

When Mommy draws. Her animals are all ridiculous caricatures.

Good thing Tara isn’t a critic.

At the risk of being called a critic, I’ll brave the first comment. You’ll do well to teach her to be a dollar store bargain shopper! (Is that second “being” in the bottom picture, you in your et cetera find? A remarkable likeness in color).

Why, yes. It’s a family of barely recognizable birds. Daddy Bird, Mommy Bird, Tara Bird and Tim Bird.
    Didn’t you notice the beaks?

I don’t know … that looks like some pretty good Abstract Artwork to me … (except their face parts are actually on their face) … but anyway something else to sell on the 4th!

  4. Peggy says:

    hehehehe … Ethiopia!

Although that one cat is kind of fat … is that because he ate his ears off?

  5. Annette says:

    Beaks? Right!

  6. Beth says:

I’m pretty sure that one’s a dog. Heh.

Frame them! They’re awesome! I especially like the bird family.

I like the square butts on the dogs and cats!! :) Hehehe

How did I go all day yesterday without visiting here? Stupid school… interfering with my internet time!

I agree with the selling idea. You could have your own booth! It would be positively stuffed with cute things to sell. You’d make a TON of money off those rubes from the city who were looking for small-town stuff.
