Driveway gate. Check.

We have an awesome driveway for playing.  It’s long and mostly level.  It’s perfect for tricycles…until you get past the edge of the hosue…then it slopes dangerously toward the street.  Trikes, bikes, balls - everything right to the street.  So, I’ve been looking at these retractable driveways gates for a while, but $100 seemed pricey for something that would likely break the first time Tara lost control and plowed into it.  And then it hit me…

I can MAKE one!  We have this volleyball net set we received as a wedding gift, and it’s only been actually out of the box once.  I pulled that baby out, drilled a couple holes in the posts closer to the ground, tied the net on and strecthed it across the driveway.  Perfect.  Mind you, it’s not supposed to be impenatrable, more like a visual barrier so Tara knows where to stop…and so do all her playgroup friends, as they come to our house frequently in the summer.  Not to mention it’s low enough to keep the balls from roling out of control.

Perfect.

Just right for blocking the driveway.

If you could make the net stretchy, it could be a tricycle launcher. Cool!

Tara can also start practicing low hurdles with that contraption. It’s probably a little too low to do the limbo.

Brilliant! But what if the play group decides to play volley ball … I think you need a back up net.
