Doom’s Day…well, maybe.
Tomorrow is the day (that’s today for most of you, given the time I post). I head into a doctor’s appointment to have a few tests done and in the end find out if I will be banished to bed rest during this pregnancy.
When I was pregnant with Tara, all hades broke loose at 32 weeks when I was well into labor and didn’t know it…I ended up in the hospital and then on bed rest taking these crazy anti-contraction pills that made me shake like a leaf and stutter when I spoke (the stuttering was the funny part, the bed rest was not…lying around doing nothing is fun for about two days, and then I just can’t do it anymore…certainly one of the biggest differences between me and Brad).
The first test is a gestational diabetes test. I have to drink this orange stuff that is nothing but sugar and then they do a blood test. The drink would be terrible for some people, I’m sure, but to me it’s just orange pop that has lost it’s carbonation. I don’t mind flat orange pop, so no big deal. Actually I laughed when I had to even take this test…I eat bags of cotton candy with orange pop chasers and don’t have any troubles, so if I have gestational diabetes it will come as a great shock to me.
The next test is really just an ultra sound (YAY - more pictures of Tim!) to measure my cervix and compare that measurement against my last ultrasound. That’s the one that will doom me (or not). Strangely, I don’t have an inclination either way…so…I guess it will be nearly as surprising this time as it was with Tara…or not…
Good luck tomorrow!
And I’m sure Lauren wouldn’t mind picking you up so Lloyd will have some company in the car while she shops. Maybe she could build a giant stroller & walk the both of you around the block too.
Is it really called Glucola, or was that a joke? Either way it’s HILARIOUS!
Hahaha!
HILARIOUS!!! Yes, indeed, it’s really called Glucola.
Brad! You stole my comment! Now I’ll have to think of something else.

Dang.
Is the u/s check of your cervix a standard test your doctor does, or is it because of your history? Nobody cared about my cervix when I was pregnant and I’m bummed that I missed out on an u/s. But I did get to see her at 4.5 weeks, so that was cool - except she was just a little circle then. Ah, the joys of seeing an RE.
I liked the drink too! Tasty stuff!
Ultrasounds are a regular part of my ob visits. They have scheduled ones at 8 and 20 weeks. Since my doctor has a machine right in her office, I talked her into one at 14 weeks so we could find out early that we have a little boy…and this one (as well as the one they’ll do in 4 weeks) I’m getting specifically because when I was pregnant with Tara, at 32 weeks I was already 70% efaced…yikes! So they’re measuring my cervix to make sure it’s strong enough to keep Tim where he should be…
