For Brad. Happy Thanksgiving.

Here are my kitchen cabinets and drawers:

 dishes and glasses

Glasses are best next to the sink, dishes all together close by.

 baking sheets and pot holders

 bread maker, pots and pans

The big pot is actually in the dishwasher, but it sits on the shelf in the back of this cabinet.

 bakings goods, spices, beautiful tupperware

Baking needs all around the stove in the weird high up and skinny cabinets.

 utensils dawers

Utensils in whatever drawer you have available.

pantry cabinet, tupperware, crockpots and tins

I recommend keeping all the food in the same general area.  Brad, you could put your food on the shelves above the cereal shelf, and the little one at the top will hold mac and cheese boxes on their sides quite nicely, not to mention ramen noodles.

 wraps, foils and baggies

Wraps, foils and baggies in the next available drawer.

towels, washcloths, cloth napkins

Do you have many towels, washcloths and napkins?

 junk drawer

Because shouldn’t every kitchen have a junk drawer for all those things that you sometimes need in the middle of a kitchen?

 bar

But, more importantly, shouldn’t every kitchen have a bar with under cabinet wine glass storage?  I love those things!

Happy kitchen organizing.  Happy Thanksgiving.

This is awesome! Things have settled into places in my kitchen. I’m not sure they’ll stay where they are. Cooking yesterday really helped give me perspective. A lot of things are good where they are. Some things just need more space. They fit there, but it’s hard to get them out and put them back. I’ll have to show you after I’ve used the kitchen some more.

    Individual comments:
    1. I’m wondering if my dishes cabinet should have some really skinny shelves for the plates and bowls. They don’t take up much space.
    2. You have a lot of cookie sheets!
    3. My bread machine is in the harder-to-access corner cabinet because I don’t use it very often.
    4. No space to store things above my microwave…that cabinet is full of vent pipe.
    5. I have THREE drawers for utensils. They were surprisingly hard to divide among three drawers. Two would have been easier.
    6. My food is currently in THREE places in my kitchen. I think it might stay that way. How it’s divided kind of makes sense to me.
    7. My plastic wrap and towels are in the exact kind of arrangement yours are (and Lloyd and Lauren’s, I might add)
    8. It’s interesting to see what’s in your junk drawer. I tried to cull my junk a bit but had a hard time of it. Do I need crayons? How about a thermometer?
    9. My booze cabinet is off to the side. I don’t know how often I’ll use it, but at least it’s there.

Interesting, I had never seen the baking cabinet doors open before. I thought they might be portals to the land of Narnia. Oh well.
