Beer Bread.

I like making beer bread.  It’s the easiest recipe I know, and it’s a hit at all the parties, bazaars and PTL bake sales I’ve ever made it for.  It isn’t all that pretty, but it sure is yummy.  See?

 Just in the oven.

 About half done.

 Kinda ugly, but very tasty.

Are you going to say this is the best recipie ever but not post it?

And do you have a favorite beer for this recipie? I tried beer bread once using some fancy dark beer and it came out all bitter.

Can you make some for our Thanksgiving breakfast on Friday?? Yes, THIS Friday….I think it will be a great conversation piece when the children speak of their dad’s, “who like to drink beer!” Maybe, they are really “baking with it!??”

  3. Lloyd says:

Yeah, you can’t post about a recipe and then not give the recipe. I think it’s a man law or something.

  4. Beth says:

    As requested:

    3 c. flour (all-purpose, not self-rising)
    3 tsp. baking powder
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
1 can beer (or any carbonated beverage for that matter)

Mix together dry ingredients. Add beer. Batter will be very lumpy. Pour into greased loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour.

    Easy.

  5. Lauren says:

I think the kids could make that tomorrow. We wouldn’t be breaking any laws, would we??

  6. Lauren says:

To any lurkers out there who think I’m serious, I’m not.

  7. Brad says:

She totally is serious. Last week, she had all the kids making Long Island Iced Tea. The week before that, they all rolled their own cigarettes.

  8. Lloyd says:

Well, technically they probably shouldn’t be called cigarettes.

  9. Dad Royuk says:

A little known fact was reported about Prof. Serck, staggering up the hall in TLEC. Rumor has it that she ingested too much beer bread. H-m-m-m, I wonder where the beer bread came from????
